How to Apply for GATE

Every year, the notification for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is released in August. If you are interested to take the exam, you can interact with GATE office through an online interface - GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). This interface can be accessed from the website of the respective Zonal GATE Offices or the GATE organizing institute. Through GOAPS, you can register online and pay application fee either via online or offline mode.

  • Fill online application form
  • Upload your photograph and signature
  • Pay application fee
  • Check your application status
  • Contact GATE zonal offices for any queries
  • Download admit card
  • View your responses, marks and GATE score

Registration

Initial registration can be done by providing a valid email address, mobile number and a GOAPS password. GOAPS password is given by you during enrolment. After successful enrolment, you are given with a GOAPS Enrolment ID. GOAPS Enrolment ID and password should be used for further login. Online application filling must be started by making the following documents ready.

  • Personal information
  • Communication Address
  • Details of Qualifying Degree
  • GATE papers
  • GATE Examination Centers
  • Scanned Photograph and Signature
  • Details of ID proof

Application form must be filled with at most care, as minor mistakes in filling the application form may cause the rejection of the same. While filling application form, you have to select the mode of fee payment, online or offline.

Fee Payment

Application fee payment can be done either through online or offline mode. Net banking facility can be used for online fee payment. Offline fee payment can be done using fee challan.

  • Male Candidates (General/OBC): Rs.1500
  • Women Candidates of any category: Rs.1500
  • Other Candidates (General/OBC): Rs.1500
  • SC / ST / PwD candidates: Rs.750

Fee payment through net banking facility can be done through your choice of bank. Offline fee payment can be made through branches of Syndicate Bank or State Bank of India. It can be done after 2 days of online registration.

You have to send printed copy of the application form along with all supporting documents to the zonal office of the GATE before last date. Printed applications must be posted through registered or speed post.
